My name is Alexander Jenhall, born and raised on the countryside 25 minutes from the Trollhättan site where plane-spotting JAS Gripen is easier than catching the school bus. Growing up, spare time was spent with football, bandy and guitar playing with the family elkhounds and hunting as a growing interest. When it was time for high-school (?), I started the GKN Apprentice program in Trollhättan where I was taught the basics of turning, milling and welding while preparing for University studies.

The apprentice programs hands-on experience and especially the weeks spent in the Rotatives workshop were great but I realized that I got the most joy out of trying to solve problems occurring in the production. Not a healthy way to run a business, its better if we could run it smoothly. Hence, I needed to find a new profession. Discussing with myself if Gothenburg was the right choice I realized I wanted to test out real winter and move 1200km north to start my studies at Luleå University of Technology.

During the last five years I have met new people, environments and gotten experiences I could never have imagined. The second year I focused on production technology and I have a master in Innovation and strategic business development. Time outside of school has been spent as volunteer at the student pub, board member at the student section of Industrial engineering and management, planned and executed the school welcoming weeks for new students and took part in the startup of a student consultancy firm. Most of all I value the people and experiences I got the chance to meet along the way.

The GKN graduate program has been on my radar since I heard about it 8-10 years ago. Back in Trollhättan I am looking forward to my first rotation at my home department, Strategy and Business innovation, and 27 eventful months.
