Hi!

My name is Felix Göttfert, born in the Year of the Rat in 1996 in the small industrial town of Robertsfors in Västerbotten, a real gem along the coast between Umeå and Skellefteå! Unlike the other trainees, I didn’t pursue a technical path in high school but initially studied social sciences, without any intention of becoming an engineer.

After high school, I worked at a gray- and ductile iron foundry, involved in mold manufacturing, mold coating, melting, casting, and operating forklifts and cranes. Over time, I became increasingly interested in the technical aspect of casting and especially metallic materials. After two years as a foundry operator, I decided to pursue a degree. I started with a technical and natural science preparatory year at Umeå University and then pursued a B.Sc. in Materials Design and Engineering and a M.Sc. in Engineering Materials Science at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

When I was nearly finished with my master’s degree I became interested in trainee programs, which offer a fantastic opportunity to kickstart one’s career, not only from an engineering perspective but also on a personal level. Through TraineeGuiden, I found out that GKN Aerospace was seeking trainees for their Global Graduate Program, and here I am!

GKN Aerospace is an incredibly exciting and fascinating company for a materials engineer. Having the opportunity to work with the materials of the future for lighter, safer, and more sustainable materials for aerospace applications.

Have a good one!
